About Langri Tangpa Centre
Langri Tangpa Centre is a non-profit organisation. We rely entirely on the support of visitors and members for our financial survival. Our only income is from donations, memberships and a small Dharma Shop selling mostly books. All proceeds from the sale of Dharma books go straight back into our library. Lama Zopa Rinpoche is the Spiritual head of the FPMT and of Langri Tangpa Centre. Rinpoche has dedicated his life to bring the benefits of Tibetan Buddhism to the west. His inspired presence and teachings have changed the lives of many thousands of students. Originally called "Chenrezig City Centre", Rinpoche re-named the centre after Geshe Langri Tangpa, a Kadampa master renowned for his practice of exchanging his happiness for the sufferings of others.
Many lamas have stayed and taught at the centre, including our founder Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Lama Yeshe, Kirti Tsenshab Rinpoche, and Khensur Rinpoche and Choden Rinpoche. Twenty years ago it was Geshe Thinley, Lama Yeshe's brother, who was teaching here on Friday nights to a devoted crowd of around twenty people. Nowdays the centre is literally bursting at the seams. We have over sixty people attending teachings with Geshe Tashi Tsering, and have spread into three rooms (with a live video hook-up and Vietnamese translation as well) to accommodate us all. |
